A more sensible approach that can be adopted by countries in aspects of energy or energy resources decision-making is to go for a position that emphasizes energy resources integration. This will take the pressure of being caught up with the 'oil obsession'.
The philosophy of energy resources integration is embedded in the concept of giving back to the Earth what we have taken from it. In this way we are also restoring the balance and harmony that exists between all living and non-living things upon this Planet. Upon this very concept rests all our efforts to go for conservation and protect the environment, ensure sustainability and preserve the eco-system.
The argument goes as follows. If the overall goal of our dependence on fossil fuel is growth then there is a correlation between dependency and sustainability in that we as consumers will indeed push for sustained efforts to support the dependency and ensure that social and economic benefits come with growth. It is indeed a vicious cycle. By being dependent on something we are also making it sustainable for us.
To get out of this fossil fuel trough we need to consciously opt out of the hole and chart a new lifestyle.
